How It Works

How does the Zerona Lipo Laser Work And What Can It Be Used For?

whateverThe Zerona Laser
The Zerona Laser is primarily used in Dr. Don’s office for body sculpting as a integral part of his program. You’ve probably seen by now the testimonials and the news footage on the Zerona laser on this website or on youtube.com.

The way that the Zerona Laser works, simply put, is this:
The lipo-laser emulsifies fat and causes the cell membrane to become temporarily porous. The fat leaks out of the cells and into the interstitial spaces between the cells where it’s passed out of the body via normal channels including the lymphatic system and the digestive system. The laser does this consistently. Dr. Don’s program helps to optimize the effectiveness of the laser and support your health and fitness goals.

No mystery here. No hidden secret.

Simply great cutting edge technology with an experienced doctor’s supervision, support, and guidance.

For a much more technical explanation see the section: “The Physiology, Histology, and Biochemical Processes of How It Works”

Other Laser Applications
While the purpose of this website is to provide information on the body sculpting aspect of the Zerona laser and Dr. Don’s Program, the Zerona Laser and Cold Laser also have other applications as well. These include:

Pre & Post – Operation for Liposuction

If you are planning on getting liposuction, realize that not all surgeons use lasers as an important part of your results or recovery. Use of the Zerona laser prior to and following your liposuction will provide you with less bruising, less swelling, and a faster recovery time. Some doctors even report a smoother result.

Post Cosmetic Surgery Recovery Support
If you are planning on getting any of the following:

  • FaceLifts/NeckLifts
  • Rhinoplasty
  • Brow Lift
  • Blepharoplasty
  • Breast Augmentation
  • Breast Reduction/Breast Lifts
  • Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
  • Thread Lift

The benefits for setting up post cosmetic recovery support treatment are decrease in pain, decrease in swelling, improved breathing, decreased bruising, decrease in muscle stiffness, nerve recovery, and faster wound healing.

The recovery sessions for the above procedures are not as involved or time intensive as the Zerona body contouring procedures. Each procedure may require only three to six 5-minute sessions.

If you are interested in these services, please contact the office for more details.

Musculoskeletal Treatment
Erchonia lasers have been very effective and are FDA approved for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Don has successfully treated a variety of body pain conditions using Cold Laser technology. It was over 5 years ago that Dr. Don brought this technology into his chiropractic practice to help these conditions:

  • Whiplash
  • Muscle Spasms
  • Swelling
  • Sports injuries
  • “Frozen” shoulders
  • Tendonitis/Bursitis like tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow
  • IT Band syndrome
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Sciatica
  • TMJ dysfunction

A TYPICAL VISIT FOR ZERONA LASER

istock_000007490478small1Step One: Initial Visit – The Consultation
It is often stressful to go to a doctor’s office. As relaxing as our office is, we understand that there is some level of anxiousness and uneasiness when meeting a new doctor and discussing sensitive issues such as health and especially issues of weight and body shape.

That’s why we have included this section to give you an idea of what to expect when coming into see Dr. Don or one of his doctors.

When you make your appointment, you will be guided on how to download the Confidential Intake form. If you’d prefer it to be faxed or mailed or emailed we will happily accommodate your need. Then in the comfort of your home you will fill out this simple form. You’ll want to complete the form before you come in, that will help us keep Dr. Don’s schedule running smoothly.

When you come into the office for your scheduled appointment, you will be greeted by a smiling face. They should do their best to make you feel comfortable. And because you already have your paperwork filled out, go ahead and give it to them. If you forget, they will ask you for it. The staff will have you sign in on your patient file. We don’t have you sign in on a sheet of paper that’s there for everyone to see. We want to protect your privacy as much as possible.

You’ll then be asked to have a seat while you enjoy some refreshments or you will be escorted back to see the doctor. On the way to see the doctor, the staff will give you a little tour of the facility. We have found this to help you feel more comfortable.

You then get to meet the doctor who will be discussing your concerns and your case. He will ask you other information regarding your goals and your health history. You’ve been to a doctor’s office before, but the difference with our doctors is that they are not going to rush you out. Even if you are not a candidate they will give you some guidance as to what options they think you might have.

Based on where the conversation flows, the doctor will then let you know what treatment options are available to you and what is entailed with each option.

Then depending on which option you both decide to pursue, you will then speak with the staff to schedule when the treatment will begin.

You’ll need to make a deposit on your treatment option in order to hold your scheduled time slot.

Step Two: Care Begins
Pre-Treatment Prep
At the appropriate time you’ll come into the office for your Pre-Treatment Prep. For the best results, the doctor will make recommendations prior to you starting treatment. About a week prior to starting your treatment you should follow the doctors recommendations. Some of those things might include hydration, supplementation, diet analysis, metabolic assessment, etc. This depends on many factors. Please understand, even though you are not receiving any laser treatment at this time, you are still under care and should be following the doctors recommendations.

The balance of the treatment option will need to be paid at this time.

37521Treatment Visit #1
Today is your first session on the laser.

But first we want to make sure that we get accurate measurements on the area that we are lasering. The staff will measure your waist/hips/thighs (these are typical the first area a patient wants to target). Also your weight and height will be recorded. A before picture of your target area will be taken, this is done really for your benefit so that you can see the differences as they occur. We won’t have your face on the picture, so no worries about that.

Before you come in, be sure to dress appropriately, or bring clothes with you. The clothes would be thin running shorts and a sports bra for women. While we will provide you with a gown, most people prefer to just bring something in.

After the measurements and the photos, you’ll be escorted to the treatment room. You should expect to find a comfortable room with a massage table. You’ll be instructed to relax on the massage table and the laser tech will set up the laser for you. Again, the tech will confirm with you the area you reported wanting to target. Assuming it’s your waist/hips/thighs you’ll lay down on your back. The tech will start and adjust the laser for your target area. And then you’ll be left alone to relax for the remaining 20 minutes. After the first 20 minutes is up, you’ll hear the Zerona Laser turn off (assuming you are awake). Then a tech will be in and have you turn over to your stomach. The tech will start the laser again, repositioning the laser for you target areas and back to sleep you go.

Once that second 20 minutes is over, typically a massage therapist will be in to perform your massages. While the office provides full service massage on request, typically a cellulite massage is performed, followed by a lymphatic massage. That takes another 20 minutes.

Once done, you’ll change to your other clothes and walk out to the front desk for any additional directions. By this time you’ll already have your other appointments scheduled. Expect to be in the office for a full hour (the time flies). Many people don’t even want to leave they feel so relaxed. So no need to rush. Sit back and relax and enjoy some refreshments. Chat with other patients and the staff. Please excuse us though as we service our other patients.

Visits 2 through 6
Visits 2-5 will be the same as visit one, but without the measuring. Measuring happens again on visit 6.

Visit 7
One week after your last laser treatment you will come in for your final measurements and photo. Although you are not under the laser for a week, your body continues to eliminate the fat that the laser extracted out of the adipose cell. So you’ll continue the recommendations the doctor gave you. Once the measurements are taken, your after photo will be taken, and you’ll then have a chance to see the before and after photos right away.

By this time you’ll be the one telling us how great you feel and look. We expect that you’ll be absolutely thrilled with your experience at Dr. Don’s office… but don’t take our word for it, check out the Patients Speak Out Section.
